When are your office hours?
My office hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1-3. Rather than just dropping by, you need to schedule your visit 24 hours in advance via my SimplyBook.me profile. If it is less than that, please email me directly (firstname.lastname@example.org). That saves me from hanging around a cramped office for hours on end and you from waiting in an unexpectedly long line.
Unless there is a sign that says otherwise, I will hold my office hours in my office, which is located in HMNSS 2300. Honestly, it is a very confusing building(!), so here is the best way to find me: Go to the Humanities Building and find the entrance closest to the Pagoda-style, 7-story tower. Enter the building through that door, the one closest to the History Department, walk straight down the hall to the elevators, and take the elevator to the second floor. My office is right outside the elevator door on the left-hand side. I share an office with four men, so do not be surprised if you do not see me right away. I am in there, I promise.
What are office hours for, anyway?
Office hours are scheduled, one-on-one time with me. Although mostly meant for you to get help with a paper, discuss a grade, or ask questions about the course in general, you are welcome to bring any sort of issue to me. It is a great place to brainstorm ideas, get feedback to specific paper-related issues, or to get help with a draft. It is your time, so use it as you want. My only request is that you come to my office prepared with a clear idea of what you want to discuss and what type of feedback you are looking for. It is hard to help you on a paper, for example, that you haven’t even started thinking about yet.
